Hospitalist

The Hospitalist Division is committed to the delivery of exemplary clinical care, advancing research, and training future healthcare professionals. Hospitalist physicians serve as the primary care providers for hospitalized children including children with complex conditions requiring multidisciplinary care.

The division provides individualized, family-oriented, and medically advanced care for hospitalized patients. Hospitalists provide high-quality care while educating the next generation of physician leaders and providing improved systems of care. Faculty members in the division provide clinical services at CHOC Hospital in Orange and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach.

Benefits of hospitalists

The hospitalists are based on-site and provide 24-hour a day, seven days a week care to the hospitalized children. They work in collaboration with the patient, the family, the child’s pediatrician and specialty physicians to provide the best care possible.

When the patient leaves the hospital, the pediatric hospitalist will give primary care physician an overview of the child’s hospital stay and detailed instructions for any necessary further care.

Our pediatric hospitalists care for children with a wide variety of illnesses and medical needs who require hospital care. Some common illnesses include, asthma, serious infections, seizure disorder, diabetes, immune problems and medically complex patients.

Our hospitalists embrace diversity of patients, staff and community and provide an inclusive and exceptional care to all patients regardless of their background. They work towards ensuring equitable health access and eliminating health disparities.
